A fanciful portrait of how I feel when I am communing with the sandhill cranes every October at Crex Meadows Wildlife Refuge in Grantsburg, WI. Separation starts to blur for me as I sleep and wake outside to the ancient sounds they make as they gather in the evening and fly out in the morning.
